Hi, my name is Jade and I am the sports therapist at Massage-Cornwall.

A few words about my background

My fascination in how the body works and how to rehabilitate injuries has lead me to start practicing sports massage at the age of 17, and complete a level 3 VTCT qualification shortly after.

I gained my degree at the University College Plymouth St.Mark & St.John where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Development and Leisure and Recreation. However my passion for sports therapy made me decide to diversify from my degree.

Shortly after finishing university, I qualified in a higher level of sports massage, which I practice today.

I hold a VTCT level 4 qualification in managing and preventing injuries in sports massage therapy.

As well as working as a fitness instructor, I now treat sportsmen and women from various sporting backgrounds such as rugby, football, cricket, athletics and martial arts ranging from the amateur to the professional. I also work with St.Austell Rugby Club on a regular basis.

I specialise in Sports Massage along with diagnosis and injury rehabilitation.

I am fully insured by the SMA.

I realise the importance in health and fitness and completely understand the frustration that injuries bring. I always use all my knowledge and dedication to get my clients back to a healthy state whether they are office workers or professional athletes.

  • Jade does a first class job for me. I know from past experience how easy it is to make a costly mistake at work because the only thing you can think of, is how much your back hurts.

    Julie from Ocean Light Yoga
  • I really look forward to my regular sports massage with Jade. I find that after a hard week of working and training it is a great way to unwind. Good sports massage therapists are hard to find but with Jade, I have struck gold

  • I have been treated by Jade for over a year and have benefited from great improvements in my levels of recovery. She also helped me with my injury rehabilitation. I highly recommend a session with her.

  • After the session I felt very relaxed and chilled out. I found I could check my blind spot when driving much more easily than usual. Thank you!

What is Sport Massage?

For athletes sports massage incorporates lots of stretching, trigger point release and good advice for pre and post activity. Sports massage can be carried out prior to a sports event, when it will stimulate circulation, calm nervous tension and prepare the individual for optimal performance whilst at the same time reducing the risk of injury which is called pre-sports massage. It can be carried out after a sports event, when it will relieve soreness and assist with the removal of lactic acid and other waste products.

When is it used?

It is often used during training, this will focus on speeding up the healing of existing injuries and preventing the development of future injuries. Sports Massage is most importantly excellent for speeding up the recovery time with injuries, and helps to regain flexibility through a range of stretching techniques.

Regular vs. Sports Massage

A regular body massage generally makes you feel relaxed during and immediately after the session. A sports massage is a deep manipulation of the body’s soft tissues releasing tension and breaking down scar tissue, helping you long term. This is not only beneficial to the sports enthusiast but people in all walks of life and at any age.

Who can benefit from it?

Whether you are a young mum, office worker, gardener, or builder you would benefit from a sports massage.

Everyone suffers with aches and pains at sometime, most choosing to ignore it putting up with the discomfort. Little do they realise the pressure this puts elsewhere on the body, which can in turn develop into more serious problems.

What is Maintenance Massage?

Maintenance massage is designed to help the athlete reach peak performance through a routine program of massage. Maintenance massage aids in the management of both acute and chronic injuries. These benefits are valuable not only for athletes, but for anyone who works out on a regular basis.

What is Sports Maintenance Massage?

Sports maintenance massage allows athletes something they rarely get but desperately need: time to heal chronic injury under the focused eye of a massage therapist. Just like sports rehabilitation massage, sports maintenance massage also helps to prevent injury and treat chronic problems on a holistic level by looking at the entire body, the biomechanics, the posture and the regular workout and training of the athlete to make correct, global changes that enhance performance.

What is Injury Massage?

Rehabilitation following an injury aims to return you to your pre-injury level of activity by using exercises and stretches. This activity can take many forms from returning to work, to sport (amateur and professional) or even being able to live your usual everyday life again.

The Injury Process

When you suffer an injury, you begin to lose mobility and strength in the affected area due to pain and lack of movement. As the length of time since you suffered your injury increases, it is more difficult just to step straight back into your normal activities. Without the rehabilitation exercises, people can experience regular flare-ups of their injuries increasing the chances of further injury.

Getting You Back on Track

During your rehabilitation treatment, you will be given exercises to meet your individual needs. Each patient requires different movements and strength due to the different activities that they are required to return to, so your rehabilitation programme is tailored specifically to you and your goals.

You will be gently guided through your exercises during a session, and then you will be given more exercises to continue your rehabilitation at home. Doing these exercises increases your chance of full recovery and shortens your recovery time.
